4H BUILDING, LARIMER COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

Kumar & Associates (K+A) provided construction observation and testing services for the 4H building at the Larimer County Fairgrounds in Loveland, Colorado.  The building was one several buildings planned at the Fairgrounds development.  K+A previously conducted a geotechnical engineering study for the Fairgrounds and Event Center and also provided observation and testing for those structures.  The 4H Building was a continuation of the phased development incorporated into the design and planning.

The observation and testing included documentation of overexcavation and compacted replacement of the near surface soils as a means of reducing swell potential of the underslab  materials.  We observed and documented drilled pier construction, observed reinforcing bar placement and tested concrete used in the foundation and floor slabs.  We also observed erection of structural steel members used in the structure.
